Drought Report 2013: Why Is Russia So Barren? We’re In The Midst Of The Third Seal.

Today’s update is about biblical connections to the recent Russia drought. My contention is that drought should be increasing in Russia, to the point where Putin is forced to covet Israel’s lush farmlands. Let’s test my theory by recalling that the Third Seal of Revelation opened during the summer of 2012.

When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!” Revelation 6:5-6 (ESV)
This means drought, but where? What is the compass destination for the black horse?

And the angel answered and said to me, “These are going out to the four winds of heaven, after presenting themselves before the Lord of all the earth. The chariot with the black horses goes toward the north country, the white ones go after them, and the dappled ones go toward the south country.” Zechariah 6:5-6 (ESV)

Do any other prophets talk about droughts in northern nations in the end of days? (Please note that there many literal and a figurative Babylons in the Bible. This is a figurative reference.)
“A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the Lord, and against the inhabitants of Babylon, and against her officials and her wise men! A sword against the diviners, that they may become fools! A sword against her warriors, that they may be destroyed! A sword against her horses and against her chariots, and against all the foreign troops in her midst, that they may become women! A sword against all her treasures, that they may be plundered! A drought against her waters, that they may be dried up! For it is a land of images, and they are mad over idols.

“Therefore wild beasts shall dwell with hyenas in Babylon, and ostriches shall dwell in her. She shall never again have people, nor be inhabited for all generations. As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, declares the Lord, so no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn in her.

“Behold, a people comes from the north; a mighty nation and many kings are stirring from the farthest parts of the earth. They lay hold of bow and spear; they are cruel and have no mercy.

The sound of them is like the roaring of the sea; they ride on horses, arrayed as a man for battle
against you, O daughter of Babylon!

“The king of Babylon heard the report of them, and his hands fell helpless; anguish seized him,
pain as of a woman in labor.

“Behold, like a lion coming up from the thicket of the Jordan against a perennial pasture, I will suddenly make them run away from her, and I will appoint over her whomever I choose. For who is like me? Who will summon me? What shepherd can stand before me? Therefore hear the plan that the Lord has made against Babylon, and the purposes that he has formed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the little ones of their flock shall be dragged away; surely their fold shall be appalled at their fate. At the sound of the capture of Babylon the earth shall tremble, and her cry shall be heard among the nations.” Jeremiah 50:35-46 (ESV)

What are the news reports out of Russia?

Russian farmers continue to struggle with drought

While North American farmers hope for dry weather to seed their crops, Russian farmers are scared to seed without more moisture.

For the fourth year in a row, weather problems in Russia may support global crop prices.

“They’re running out of time,” said Drew Lerner of World Weather Inc.

“They haven’t got enough (moisture) to carry them through.”

Parts of Russia’s spring wheat, corn and sunseed growing area are suffering from drought again. Topsoil is dry and little subsoil moisture remains after years of dryness.

Another distressing Russian report:

Russia Suffers Severe Heat, Drought

Severe heat, made worse in areas by drought, has already gripped a wide swath of the Russian heartland since the first of summer, and prospects are for even more of the abnormal heat.

Health, water supply and crops have all taken a hit in many areas.

Average temperatures for the summer so far have been at least 10 F above normal between the western borders and the Ural Mountains. Moscow, for instance, has tallied more than 10 F above normal has of July 13. In Saint Petersburg, the average temperature since the start of summer has been almost 12 F above normal…

…Crop losses have mounted across what is one of the world's top breadbaskets, an agricultural belt that yielded a 97-million metric ton grain harvest in 2009. One spokesman for Russian agriculture has stated that drought, made worse by the heat, has laid waste to 9 million out of 48 million hectares of planted land.

My opinion: Hunger drives a man to do unconscionable things. As the drought intensifies, watch for Putin to do unconscionable things.
